Quick answer: Zeus did not kill Cronos. Cronos, like the other Titans, and all his children, is immortal and cannot be killed. There are varying accounts of Cronos' ultimate fate (usually depending on whether a Greek or a Roman told the story). The oldest accounts say that he was imprisoned in the cave of Nyx, away from the other Titans. Eventually he was released and made the king of Elysium (the place where good people go). Other account (particularly Roman) allude to him being released and living in exile in Latium, where he ruled over a Golden Age under the name "Saturnus".
Cronus was told by his father Uranus and Mother Earth that one of his own sons would someday over throw him. Cronus then swallowed the first five children that his wife, Rhea, bore him: Hestia, Demeter, Hera, Hades, and Poseidon. To stop this from happening. He meant to swallow the next child, Zeus, but Rhea tricked him and saved the baby. She took a stone wrapped in cloth as Zeus and gave in to Cronus. Zeus then was raised by nymphs and grew to manhood in secrecy of his father. Eventually, he returned home and became cup-bearer for Cronus. After drinking poison mixed into his drink by Zeus, Cronus threw up his five children and the stone. This is how his siblings came to the world.
After releasing his brothers and sisters, Zeus led a war against Cronus and the other Titans. The war went on for ten years when Zeus, Poseidon & Hades released the Cyclopes from captivity. In gratitude, the Cyclopes gave each of the brothers a weapon. Poseidon received a trident, Zeus a thunderbolt, and Hades the helmet of darkness. They used these gifts to finally defeat Cronus and the rest of the titans. Now that the three brothers were the rulers of all existence they decided to draw lots to determine their domains. Poseidon rule the water, Zeus rule the sky, and Hades rule the underworld.
Zeus did not kill his father Cronus, he cast him into Tartarus. He did this to rule.
I don't think Zeus actually killed Cronus. He gave Cronus a potion (from Metis) that forced him to regurgitate all his swallowed children and then with the help of the Olympians defeated Cronus and the Titans. But he didn't actually kill him, just overthrew him.
to save his siblings or something this is the right answer: l ( that is an arrow pointing down) Zeus' father was Cronus or Kronos, Cronus killed his father Uranes! so Uranes said to Cronus "if you murder me know one of your children will kill you ! just how ur going to kill me right now" and so Cronus did!
Evidently, as when Zeus wrestled with Cronus, Cronus lost.
No, Cronus was Zeus's father.
He was not created, he was born. His parents were Cronus and Rhea. Zeus is created on the natural process His father is Cronus and his mother is Rhea. Zeus is the only child live because cronus eats his children after birth for his safety but Zeus has been hidden by his mother rhea. Instead of Zeus his mother gave a piece of rock to cronus cronus didn't notice. After that Zeus has been grown and started a plan w/ titan I think to kill his father cronus.
Zeus, god of the sky, didn't actually kill his father because his father (Cronus) was immortal, like Zeus.Instead, Zeus used his fathers own weapon to slice Cronus into a thousand pieces. Zeus then tossed all the pieces into Tartarus, the deepest crater in the underworld, and Cronus never escaped. Cronus was still alive because he was immortal, but he was harmless since his body was scattered in Tartarus.Zeus was then chosen to be king of the gods. Him and his brothers, Poseidon and Hades, chose the domains they would rule over. Zeus picked the sky, Poseidon picked the sea and Hades picked the underworld.Zeus did not kill Cronus, he and his allies fought a war and Cronus and the other Titans were driven into Tartarus.
Yes Zeus was the son of Cronus and Rhea.
No, Kronos (Cronus) had already eaten Poseidon.
Cronus is Zeus's father in Greek mythology. He was a Titan who overthrew his own father, Uranus, and then was later overthrown by Zeus, his son, in a similar fashion.
All of the Titans, except for Metis, Rhea, and Gaia fought against Zeus in the clash against Cronus. The Titaness Metis gave Zeus the drink to make Cronus vomit up his swallowed children and later was wedded to Zeus. Rhea told Zeus how to kill/weaken Cronus because she couldn't bear his cruelty to her children anymore. Gaia actually cared for the young Zeus while her daughter Rhea tricked Cronus into swallowing a rock rather than the baby. These women stayed loyal to Zeus until the end of battle.
Cronus is the father of Zeus. Cronus swallowed his own children. But Rhea saved Zeus and hid him from Cronus so he wouldn't swallow him. Rhea gave cronus a rock wrapped in cloth instead of Zeus so Cronus swallowed the rock.
