Pacific islands. One of the first was the Philippines. McArthur was there and he had to leave . The return of the Pacific islands from the Japanese took the lives of many men in all services. Each island required a "D" day type of invasion of American and allied forces. Watch Victory at Sea to see real footage of the war in the Pacific.
