The same as in Baseball or softball there is a pitcher, catcher, first baseman, second baseman, third baseman, left fielder (from the hitter's point of view), center fielder and right fielder. You can also have more than three people in the outfield if you have too many people. Kickball is really fun!
In softball, there arenine positions. They include:
Infield-
Catcher - The catcher is behind home plate. They catch the pitches, call what pitch will be thrown (examples- fastball, change up, curve ball, screw ball, drop or rise ball, inside or outside pitch, and much more!) , and throw people out when they steel bases.
Pitcher - The pitch throws the ball down home plate (to the catcher) for the batter to hit.
First basemen - Plays next to first base
Second basemen - Plays between first and second base.
Shortstop - Plays between second and third base. The shortstop is in charge of the infield
Third basemen - Plays next to third base. Usually has a very strong arm so they are able to throw to first base.
Outfield-
Right field - Behind first and second basemen.
Center field - Behind second base. The center fielder is in charge of the whole field
Left field - Plays behind the shortstop and third baseman.
There are 9 positions on a softball field.
9-10 positions
they are in the infield and in the outfield
positions
A player who is not a starter that can play several different defensive positions.
As a softball player myself, my friend plays first. But, leftys can really play any position. first is most common.
Second, Short and First
They don't use four outfielders in softball. Some slow-pitch leagues may choose to use four outfielders, but other than that, the positions are the same as in baseball. Rec leagues, high school, and college softball all use three outfielders: left field, right field, and center field.
Softball is played all over the world
Offense in softball is when you're hitting the ball (because you are scoring). There aren't necessarily positions, but there are names to refer to where you are in the lineup. On defense there are pitchers, catchers, first basemen, second basemen, shortstops, third basemen, left fielders, center fielders, and right fielders.
Basic positions are: pitcher, catcher, firstbase man, secondbase man, thirdbase man, shortstop, right field, left field, center field
The fundamentals are catching, throwing, hitting, and baserunning. I would also consider playing position as a fundamental in softball because there is a proper way of executing the playing positions on the field.
