They wear them so people wont see their scars from cutting themselves. Also we wear things that help to show that we are not going to listen to the preps and their beliefs because they don't accept us for what we all are. You know, typically, it's not the Emo's that cut themselves, it's the posers and wannabes, and the posers that cut themselves, well, most usually show people their scars to prove that they're 'emo' when their only hurting themselves to prove what there not. Now, to answer the question.
It's not only Emo's that wear wristbands, preps, jocks, scenesters, even the goths wear wristbands. It's not just one stereotype that wears the same types of clothes and accessories, preps even wear skinny jeans and hair bows every once in a while, and that doesn't necessarily make them scene or emo, it makes them who they want to be.
The wristbands we all wear are just different, some are pink, some have something relating to emo written on it, like, I wear Brokencyde and Blood on the Dance floor bracelets, but that's because i love those bands.
And one more thing, I doubt anybody fears a stereotype, why would preps fear us; and why would scenesters, emos or goths fear them?
Emo stands for emotional, emotion can be happy, sad, angry... and being emo is about self expresstion. So someone dressing in bright colors is actually being an emo (this is just my imterpretation) and if people say you have to wear make-up and wear black are not real emo's. There is no one way to be emo, but if you are looking this up to be a poser, and because this "fad" is popular at the time.....don't.(or i will find you)
There are many different ways to dress 'emo'. Here are some ways: -Wear tight, skinny or straight leg jeans. -Wear a beanie or a stocking cap -Wear band shirts such as Dashboard Confessional, My Chemical Romance, Dead Poetic, Underoath and Linkin Park -Carry a skateboard and wear light eyeliner (for guys) -Wear All Star Converse -Wear Hello Kitty items -Buy clothing from Hottopic -Wear studded belt -Wear 2 belts that completely don't match -Wear different colored shoelaces -Wear ripped jeans
YES xDGREY = MISERY = EMO!
NO. black is a color but it does not classify you as "emo" it is ok to wear black..if people call you emo for wearing black you just tell them that they don't know what they are talking about.
Well no not really i mean its a simple shade of clothing that any kind of person wears, does not mean they belong to any type of society its simple common sense So i don't think that because you wear black it means you are emo, that is from personal thoughts after all i wear black or shaded colors all the time i don't like bright stand out colors and black is my favorite one to wear and I'm not emo so i don't think that its right for some one to say that only because you like black means you are emo.
emo people often wear all black they wear a lot of goth clothing but not all emo people show it emo people don't all dress the same way
Some people wear sweatbands or wristbands, but not everyone does.
Yes. Anyone can wear power balance wristbands.
Just because you wear an beanie doesn't mean your emo. I have allot of friend's that wear beanies that aren't emo themselves. But loads of people wear them.
You don't need to wear black all the time to be emo.
um.. * black or neon tight skinnyjeans * wristbands * converse or vans * band tees * hoodies

Yes, emo girls will wear knee-highs with skirts. Grey or black ones. They must be dreary and non-colorful.
