The inside of pubs used to be divided into a saloon bar and a public bar. The saloon bar was set up for a posher clientele. Location on a street corner allowed two separate entrances to keep two separate clienteles from interacting inside and out. Additionally, the street corner location made the pub stand out in a block of businesses, and made for ease in deliveries of supplies and in transport of clientele.
