Religion is a "belief in or worship of supernatural spirits and/or deities". The Hopi certainly have a religion when defined this way. For example, Hopis have stories about creation based on the Sun Spirit Tawa who formed the First World out of Endless Space alled Tokpella and formed its original inhabitants.
