Barbara of Nicomedia is one of a number of legendary saints who may or may not have actually existed. There is little credible information about her and what we do know is based on tradition and not documented fact. For this reason Barbara was removed from the Calendar of Saints in 1969.
However, if Barbara did actually exist, she would have been born about the year 200 A.D.
Barbara Laage was born on July 30, 1920, in Menthon-Saint-Bernard, Haute Savoie, France.
Barbara Ann Teer was born on June 18, 1937, in East Saint Louis, Illinois, USA.
While there were undoubtedly beautiful converts named Barbara, this saint is legend, and her cultus developed when pious fiction was mistaken for history. If she lived, she would have been born about the year 200 in Nicomedia. She is no longer listed as a saint and her cult has been surpressed.
She is thought to have been born in Nicomedia in what is today modern Turkey. However, since 1969 she has been removed from the Calendar of Saints and her cult suppressed as there are questions about her very existence.
