Yes, but not in the way that they are around us today. Back in the day of the Caveman cattle were as wild as deer and moose are today, and were very dangerous to the neanderthals that attempted to hunt them for meat because of their extreme aggressiveness (just like the Cape Buffalo is one of the most dangerous animals in Africa) and defensive mechanisms.
