In theory, federalism in both India and the US divides power between the national government and constituent states. The extent of this division, however, varies in practice. Over the years, both countries have experienced debates and challenges related to the distribution of power between the central and state governments.
Federalism is a system of government where power is divided between a central authority and constituent political units, such as states or provinces. It is used in various countries like the United States, Canada, Germany, and Switzerland to accommodate diverse regions and balance different levels of government. Federal systems can help decentralize power, protect minority rights, and promote government efficiency through local decision-making.

India has a much better federalism than USA though both are getting the benefits of federalism and no one is bereft of it. Still India has a much better System of federalism than USA in the following senses--->1. USA has Coming together Federalism which is not as strong as Holding together Federalism which is accepted by India. 2. Any State from USA can withdraw itself from the Union easily which is not so in India 's Holding Together Federalism. 3. In USA it is not necessary that the states have to abide by the rules and laws of the cent re while it is not so in India. Here All States need to be aligned with Central Guidelines.
