There are not kinds of metaphor but i can give you the definition:

A metaphor is when you describe something as another object. e.g. the sun WAS a yellow ball. The moon WAS a boat sailing through the sky. hope this helps!

  2. Extended metaphor: sustained comparison throughout a text or passage.
  3. Implied metaphor: comparison suggested rather than directly stated.
  4. Mixed metaphor: unintentional combination of two or more incongruous metaphors in a single expression.
