Ghosts knock on walls (of rooms) because they know some human is inside the room. Mostly it is because when a ghost had a physical body, it must have died either by committing suicide or by an accident. So it must have some things to complete which it did not in the course of its bodily existence. It specifically comes to the room where it stayed in physical form. It knocks only may be it knows some human is inside its room when it had a physical form and it wants to get in and be in the room and knocking can be presumed to let know the human inside the room that the ghost has to come in.

Oh, dude, ghosts totally can go through walls... if they want to, you know? Like, they're not bound by our silly human rules of physics. So, if a ghost feels like passing through a wall to mess with you, they totally can. But hey, if you're worried about ghosts in your walls, maybe call a paranormal plumber or something.
Ghosts are believed to be made of energy or spirit, which allows them to pass through solid objects like walls. This ability may be connected to their lack of physical form, enabling them to move through obstacles in their path. Such phenomena are often attributed to the supernatural and not bound by the physical limitations of the living.
In the realm of ghostly phenomena, the laws of physics seem to be suspended, allowing ghosts to move through walls seemingly at will. The reasons for ghosts not falling through ceilings or floors can be attributed to their perceived connection to a specific location or their ability to control their movement within a three-dimensional space. Additionally, folklore and popular culture often depict ghosts as being able to interact with the physical world in a selective manner.
Ghosts are often believed to be able to pass through objects such as walls and doors, but they are commonly associated with being unable to pass through materials such as salt, iron, or specific objects related to their life or death. In some cultures, it is believed that ghosts cannot cross running water or enter holy ground.
A wrecking ball's momentum and weight provide the force needed to knock down walls, even when moving slowly. The ball's size and material composition also play a crucial role in its ability to penetrate and break through structures. By harnessing gravity and controlled movements, operators can use a wrecking ball to demolish buildings effectively at a slower pace.
