Best Answer

you can measure weight by a scale.

weight could change from place to place like if you go to the moon you will weigh less because there is less gravitational pull on you. it basically depends on mass and mass is the amount

of matter an object is made of. mass does not change so on the moon your mass does not change it's your weight that changes

What does weight mean in science terms?

Weight in science refers to the force of gravity acting on an object's mass. It is a measure of the gravitational pull on an object and is usually expressed in units of force, such as newtons or pounds. Weight can vary depending on the location of the object in the universe due to differences in gravitational strength.

What is the definition for weight in science?

In science, weight is the force exerted on an object due to gravity. It is measured in units such as pounds or newtons. Weight is different from mass, which is the amount of matter in an object and remains constant regardless of the location.

Why do you use mass and not weight in science?

In science, mass is used instead of weight because mass is a measure of the amount of matter in an object, while weight is the force of gravity acting on an object. Mass remains constant regardless of location, while weight can vary depending on the gravitational pull. By using mass, scientists can ensure consistent measurements and comparisons across different environments.

What is a spring balance used for in science?

A spring balance is used in science to measure the weight of an object by the extension or compression of a spring. It provides a simple and accurate way to measure forces, such as gravity acting on an object.

Determine the weight of an average physical science textbook whose mass is 3.1 kilograms. The acceleration due to gravity is 9.8ms2.?

The weight of an object is the force acting on it due to gravity. The formula to calculate weight is W = m * g, where W is the weight, m is the mass, and g is the acceleration due to gravity. Plugging in the values, the weight of the physical science textbook would be W = 3.1 kg * 9.8 m/s^2 = 30.38 N.
