There are two kinds of traditional English sword dances: Long-sword and rapper-sword.
They both have a ring of 5, 6, or 8 dancers, each holding their own sword in their right hand and the end of another dancer's in their left. They perform various moves ("figures") generally without letting go of either sword, except with the swords are woven into a star.
Rapper-swords are flexible and have handles on both sides, long-swords are long(of course), sturdy, and sometimes made of wood and neither of them are very sharp.
Long-sword is a slow-and-steady dance, while rapper is much faster.
