i love you
In the 1800's through the early 1900's ballet has been a legacy. Going to famous ballets was like going to the movie theater today except much more luxurious. The beautiful music and hardworking, mesmorizing dancers could lull anyone into a dreamy trance. This was the "thing" at that age. It was like facebook. Everyone dreamed of going to ballets and seeing the perfomers. Unfortuneately our cutlure has now turned to dirty rap videos and pop sensations while ballet has faded. In particular studios (mine for example) we still carry this legacy because we're aware of the decline in the popularity of classical ballet. Our motive is to inspire and reteach the public of how Balanchine, Cecchetti, and so many other amazingly famous choreographers lulled our culture in to the era of elegant, classical ballet. :] this was by a ballet-passionate 9th grader :]
No, you need to break in your pointe shoes yourself. Anaheim Ballet offers a video on breaking in pointe shoes. Just type Anaheim Ballet The Point, or just type in breaking in pointe shoes and videos should pop up based on that. Shutting your pointe shoes in a door helps. Good luck!
It all depends on what type of person you are and what you want to do. If you want to become a professional ballet or contemporary dancer then ballet would be better, but if you would rather be something like a dancer in music videos or in stageshows/musicals, hip hop may be better. Ballet requires hardwork, determination and a LOT of dedication. It also needs you to be strong and flexible, preferably slender and most important; you must make it look graceful and easy. Hip hop is very different; more funky, sharp and strong. You need a lot of style and attitude to make it look good. Also, strength comes in handy. Source: 7 years training in dance
This is very difficult to do. The closest anybody seems to have come (to reaching a fair degree of competency) is by using DVDs, practicing, watching videos of yourself and then correcting your errors. However, in order to make real and meaningful progress, feedback is essential from an experienced instructor.
a pointe shoe is a shoe used in ballet to give the illusion of effortlessness. althought it can be painful, pointe dancing is beautiful and graceful. a pointe shoe is made of plaster, glue, satin, and many other things. search "the making of pointe shoes" on youtube.com and there are some great videos.

If you have a serious interest in ballet and would like to be a professional ballet dancer, you can only develop that level of skill by studying at an actual ballet school. If your interest is not as serious, you can learn lots about ballet by reading about it, watching videos and movies, trying things out and teaching yourself.
