The HTP 100-SW is a passive subwoofer (no built-in amplifier of its own), so it goes between the amplifier/receiver and the front left & right speakers, using two sets of speaker cable (four cables in all). First connect the front left & right speaker outputs of the amplifier to the inputs on the rear panel of the subwoofer, according to the embossed labels in the middle of the panel (use a flashlight if necessary), which tell you which are inputs/outputs and which are left/right. Then connect the speakers to the subwoofer's outputs, again according to the embossed labels. The subwoofer will filter out and use the bass from the signal, passing the rest of the signal on to the speakers. If this is a simple stereo system with only two speakers, then you are now finished.

For the process to work correctly on systems that have more than two speakers, the bass in all of the channels must first be redirected to the front left & right channels. On most receivers/preamplifiers, the front left & right speakers must be set to "Large" while the others must be set to "Small." Some models may have different settings, so consult their manuals.
