Why doesn't the shepherd kill the baby in Oedipus?

In Sophocles' "Oedipus Rex," the shepherd does not kill the baby Oedipus because he is moved by pity and compassion. Instead of following King Laius's order to dispose of the infant, he decides to save the child, fearing the consequences of killing an innocent baby. This act of mercy ultimately alters the course of fate, allowing Oedipus to grow up away from his doomed lineage. The shepherd's choice highlights themes of free will versus fate in the play.

What does Jocasta do to her baby in 'Oedipus Rex'?

Arrange to kill him is what Jocasta does to her baby in "Oedipus Rex" by Sophocles (495 B.C.E. - 405 B.C.E.).Specifically, Theban monarchs Laius and Jocasta hear a prophecy that their son will grow up to kill his father. Killing an infant is not serious whereas killing one's father and sovereign is in ancient Greece. Laius therefore orders Jocasta to kill Oedipus. Jocasta relays the order to her most trusted servant that Oedipus must die by exposure in the mountains outside Thebes.

Does anyone have any good scary stories to tell aloud?

urmm well this is one of my favvourites.... there was a very ederly lady and she found out tht she was pregnant, but she wasnt in a relationship. so the day came wen she was in labour and he baby was born. when she told the nurses tht this baby hasnt got a father, they all thought she was mental and wanted to send her to a mental hospital. she argued and argued and she finally got let out. she was so angry she took her anger out on her baby! nxt thing she knew her baby was dead. she couldnt sleep a wink tht nite....but then she heard knockin on her door and a voice (sing this bit) " i am your baby and i am knocking on your door" the women got so scared! so she locked her bedroom door... then she heard her stairs creakin and a voice (again sing it like a lulaby) " i am your baby and i am walking up ur stairs" the women called the police then she heard a voice (again sing it) " i am your baby and i am opening your door" the women explained the problem to the police but then she heard her bedroom door-handle move and saw a little baby walkin towards her. the baby stoped walkin wen it was about 2 inches away from the lady. then the baby said " i am you baby and i am gonna KILL U!!!!" a scream echoed into the night and she was neva heard of again. to make it more effective...wen ur singin the last bit wen u get to 'kill u' u should shout it to make them jump. and say tht the lady lived in the very house or place ur in wen ur tellin it. hope u liked it!!
