I have found that when my Sony Walkman MP3 player is completely dead. I have to plug it in and let it sit for about 3-5 mins before the screen will come on or my computer will acknowledge that it is plugged in. Then it charges fine.
Plug the USB cable into the port on the back of the computer instead of the front. Sounds stupid but it works ! This fixed my non charge issue.
it charges via the Usb cable when plugged into your computer, otherwise on Sony.com they have a charger and a docking station..both for around 45.00.
It sounds like a software version for a sony walkman mp3 player.

Limewire is peer to peer networking software that requires a computer running the Linux, Mac OS X or Windows operating system. It will not work on a Sony Walkman media player.
how do you turn on a walkman portable cd player
if you have a usb cable then hook it up with one end to a compatible computer and the other end to the area on the bottom, if you don't then you can bye one online at amazon usually, if you do and it still won't charge then maybe you aren't using a compatible computer I'm not sure what computers do work but I know mac osx don't work with mine I had a similar problem (my computer uses Windows XP) - Sony Walkman beeps a couple times when I insert the USB Cable that connects it, like it is connecting, but it does not charge or is not found by Windows Media Player. In my case, the way I fixed it was to: 1, Go into Control Panel 2. Double Click 'System' ICON 3. Select Hardware Tab 4. Select Device Manager 5. Select 'View' at the Top 6. 'Devices by Type' AND 'Show Hidden Devices' should be selected 7. 'Scroll down to 'Portable Devices' and open it up. 8. My Sony Walkman was there with and Exclamtion point ( ! ) in a yellow circle, 9. Right Click on this yellow exclamation point. 10, Select 'UNINSTALL' 11. Once the computer says 'Device has been Uninstalled, Disconnect your Walkman's USB cable then reconnect. 12. At this point, my Walkman was recognized by my computer, started charging, and was recognized by Windows Media Player
Sony does still make Walkman products. However, the most recent Sony Walkman product is a MP3 player or digital player rather than the "old style" casette tape or CD player.
