The Winchester Super X, Model 1 was made from about 1974 thru 1981. The guns were made in Field, Skeet and Trap configurations. A total of about 88K were made. These guns were designed to be the automatic version of the famous Winchester Model 12, one of the most popular pump action shotguns ever made. They were machined from a solid block of steel for the receiver and made with accuracy second to none. Because they were expensive to make the cost drove most people away. There were also speciality gun made such as the "Ducks Unlimited"(about 900 made), the "Mississippi flyway"(about 500 made), about 87 "Super Pigeon" and 47 "Pigeon" factory guns made. John There's nocomparision to the newer Winchester SX-2 and SX-3 guns and parts will not interchange. Help, I just purchased a used Super X 1 from Gander mountain for 299.00. It looked to be in excelllent condition, but wouldn't eject shells when I got home and test fired. They checked and said some "gas...." part was missing and they would care for it. Now they call and want to give me my money back. The gun came with a guarantee and I want the gun NOT my money back. Any opinions?? You can get parts from Nuline in MO, they have a web-site. You can also go to gunbroker.com to purchase reproduction manuals. John
