Its probably Hypertrophic scarring. which is very common wit any cartilage piercing. Go to Walmart o a drugstore and get a bottle of Tea Tree Oil. It's like $5 for at least a years supply. Just use a q-tip and dab a bit on the bump every day after you clean your piercing in the morning. The oil will dry up the bump and it'll flake off until its gone. Don't overload on the oil because it'll dry the piercing out. Try your best to get it on the bump and not on or in the piercing.
That is a hypertrophic reaction. This is a reaction to an irritant, generally the over use of cleaning products and failure to rinse the piercing out correctly after cleaning. Irrigate the piercing under running water and stop using whatever you are using for cleaning the piecing , the bump will go away over the next 5 days.
The bump you are referring to is most likely what is called Hypertrophic Scarring. Scarring of this type is usually caused by excessive irritation to the piercing. This irritation can come from overcleaning, overusing salt water, playing with the jewelry, changing jewelry too often, etc. Clean the piercing once a day with antibacterial (Dial) soap -- not more than that. Salt water soaks can be very damaging to your piercing of overused or abused. If you must use salt water soaks, never more than once a day. Pick one piece of jewelry, and stick with it. The more you change your jewelry, the more irritated your piercing is going to get. Never touch your piercing unless it is to clean it -- it is a bodily ornament, not a toy! When you do clean it, make sure your hands are washed first. Dirty hands spread bacteria! Good luck!
Over time it can push itself through the skin, and grow out of your ear. Like surface piercings grow out.
I think you mean a Hypertrophic Reaction, this is a bump or bubble that appears beside the entry or exit point of the piercing. This is a reaction to an irritant generally due to misuse of after care products, skin care lotions, hair conditioner and generally anything your body doesn't like. To get rid or the bump you first need to realize that you are causing the issue by over using or misusing aftercare solutions or hair care products and allowing them to enter the actual piercing. Flushing the piercing while moving the jewellery under running water in the shower will over time rinse the irritant away and the body will start healing the piercing.
There should be no swelling if the piercing was done by a professional body piercer in a licensed and inspected facility. Swelling is generally caused by over using a cleaning solution or the piercing was done by a piercing gun (which when it comes to Tragus piercings is not only dangerous it's also a violation of most standing health guidelines for body piercing). So the best bet is to irrigate the area with warm running water in the shower while moving the jewellery, if the swelling is to the point where the jewellery can't be moved then you need to see a professional body piercer to have the jewellery changed to something that will allow the piercing to discharge and thus relieve the swelling.
A Tragus piercing, being a deep cartilage piercing should be left in for a period of 3~9 months to allow the piercing to properly season and toughen. As with any piercing they are never considered fully healed until they are a full year old. So the longer you can leave it alone without changing the jewellery the better it is for the piercing.
Hold on to the back of the piercing with one hand and then twist the front bit left. (Lefty loosey, righty tighty.) I had problems undoing my tragus piercing stud because it was screwed on quite tight so I eventually went back in to the place I got it pierced and just asked them to loosen it a bit for me.
What you have is a Hypertrophic Reaction (this is a reaction to an irritant) generally due to the misuse of cleaning or healing agents. Irrigate the area with lots of clean running water and cease using anything else on the piercing for cleaning other than just water. The bump will dry up over the next 5 to 7 days, once the bump is gone (it may take a week or longer to make the bump go away), rinse your piercing under running water only and the bump will stay away.
Probably scar tissue. Once its healed over, you can use mederma or BioOil to help make the scar tissue less noticeable.
If you have had the piercing for over a year you can get away with 24 to 48 hours.
You should be able to. Just make sure you put a piercing in straight away to avoid the area healing over.
That is called hypertrophic scarring, which usually means your nose piercing sustained a substantial amount of irritation. Irritation can be caused by overcleaning, overusing salt soaks, playing with it too much, changing the jewelry too much, etc. If you leave it alone, it will start to fade over time; it may not completely go away depending on how bad it is, but it should shrink a bit.
