It is a bad idea to change the jewellery in a new piercing for at least a month, sometimes two. This will slow healing time and yes, probably hurt. If you are having problems with the jewellery (too long, too short, otherwise uncomfortable) then return to your body piercer and ask their advice before changing anything.

at first no, the clamp hurts more then the needle, but the next morning is awkward because you wake up and you feel like you have gum or something in your mouth that you can't spit out and your tongue is massive. I have mine done, eating is hard, because you are supposed to keep your tongue level so it doesn't bleed, but whatever. haha I like mine, so it is worth it i think! just take care of it and you'll have nothing to worry about :)

Sure you can talk normally after a tongue piercing, it's the next day that is a challenge and I would suggest you try not to talk or show the piercing off until it's a week or two old. Stressing the tongue to show it off or talk needlessly is not good for the piercing and will cause the swelling to worsen. Ice cubes , freezies, slushies will be your best friend for a few days.

How long does a tongue piercing stay swollen for?
Mine wasn't very long. Like three hours I think and I ate pizza 4 hours after I got it done and was talking perfectly fine the next day. But it affects some people differently Ive had mine done for a year and a half and I'm only fourteen. My friend on the other hand hers was swollen for over a week and hers bled when she got hers done and mine didn't. Shes had hers done since 5-24-10 me since 1-6-10. With no problems what so ever. If you get it done make sure you keep it clean because it will get infected easily. :)

Hey, no piercings do not hurt to much I have 12 piercings and not many of them hurt but it really depends on your pain tolerance. I have 6 earings in right ear, 2 in left ear , belly button, nose , tongue and Monroe piercing. The piercing that hurt the most was Tragus which is like the cartledge part of the ear. No it's not scar tissue, it's just the tongue's equivalent to a scab. This will disappear over the next few days as the piercing heals and toughens.
