Actually, gayness is not necessarily inborn. It is a social construct given to people who habitually practice sexual behaviors with members of their own sex. A person who has gay sex is only gay as long as they choose to give into such a temptation. Everyone is tempted in some area of life, but not everyone falls for temptation. We do not say that some people were born to be murderers and give them free passes to kill based on angry feelings they claim were inborn. So if you believe this school of thought, then something had to have happened early in life to make them want to give up the natural, inborn heterosexual nature that ALL are born with, and choose a hard, unsatisfying lifestyle of suffering, increased risk of things like disease, drug use, bullying, suicide, and homicide. Some of the causes along this line of thought would be deep insecurity, immaturity, self-hate, or a subconscious wish to sabotage their lives. Only a self-hating person could choose a lifestyle that destroys lives and creates so much conflict for others. It may be the search for a parent figure of the same sex. Openly gay George Michaels sings about being a father figure. Why? Probably because he felt he grew up missing the love of a father, so now he feels he have to look for it in sex with other men, never finding it, but always compelled to look for it there.
Coming out of broken homes seems to be more common in gay folks. Why? Maybe because a child needs a male and female parent to be able to fully develop their own nature, and when parents split when they are very young, it is traumatic and may fracture their ego. At that point, they learn to stifle parts of their nature. If a boy sides with the mother, he may become more effeminate from an early age and possibly take on her sexual preferences. The father is a hated object, and the boy feels he must hate the father at some level to gain the mother's love. All the punishment for "being a sissy" only proves to him that masculinity is a bad thing and reinforces his resolve. That is "primary homosexuality." Or, if he sides with the father, he becomes superficially very masculine, even hyper-masculine, while hating his mother and getting punished for "being like his father." That only proves that the father was right in the child's mind and that the mother is something horrible. That can also be a pathway to gayness, but the "secondary" classification, since this is the type to be unaware of being gay for so long and is likely to be a homophobe for a while first. Since he neglected his "feminine" side and hated it for so long, it got very strong over the years and subconsciously fought to survive.
