Perhaps you are seeing a "duffle bag" cut. After WW II, soldiers that wanted to bring a rifle home would cut the stock, so that it would fit in their duffle bag without being seen.
Norma's been making 7.7mm Arisaka rifle ammo since the 1960's, and probably still is. They were made using brand new brass, and had the caliber stamped on the bottom of the shells. EXCELLENT AMMO!
I would try the maker of my rifle first.
There are several possible answers- difficult to answer without more inforation on the rifle. ONE answer would be a Japanese military Arisaka rifle, manufactured at Koishikawa Arsenal. They used an S in a circle for barrel proof markings- but other nations did as well.
100-1000 USD depending on condition, finish, accessories, etc..
Retailers that would stock a rifle case would be a large department store that carries sporting goods, or guns. Also, individual stores that just sell sporting goods, and/or guns. One could also find a rifle case by looking on the internet.
y not
Someone figured it would be better if they had a rifle which could be quickly reloaded than a muzzleloader.
Not without some work
.22 caliber rifle.
Since the Striker pistol is based on the same bolt actions Savage uses in it's rifles, it probably can fit in the rifle stock, but may require some minor modification to the stock. That being said, what you would then have would be illegal under federal law. You can't put a rifle stock on a firearm w/ a barrel shorter than 16" . You would have to go thru a lengthy process apply to the BATF for a permit and pay a tax to own the weapon. You'd go thru the same process as buying a fully automatic weapon or a silencer.
Not very easily. Most break barrel rifles have a notch running under the stock so you would have to mount the bi-pod way back on the stock, making it unbalanced. This is not something I would recommend. I would suggest you get a set of "Sandbags Rest" for rifles and place the rifle on them to shoot.
A CVA Hawken rifle parts list would include the stock, trigger guard, side lock, and side plate. Other parts would include the cap lock and trigger.
