For a lot of reason, after all the wife has the rights to know what's going on behind her back. It could also be that she wanted to know if her trust towards her husband is been broken. She also want to have all the evidence that she can use against her husband before she can confront him in case he lie to her. We may not have the rights to invade someones privacy but as long as they live together a man and wife shares everything being a couple. She have all the rights to know the truth.
