the uterine lining thickens to allow an embryo to implant. The reason it thickens is to allow room for blood vessels to supply the area with oxygenated blood. if a child doesn't implant, then it's just superfluous preparation, and the cycle starts again.

Why does a female no longer needs thick uterus lining if fertilization doesn't occurs?

The thick lining is prepared by the nature,so that implantation of the zygote should be possible. If there is no fertilization, then this lining is shed away. You have fresh lining for the next month. After all generation next is very much important for the nature.

Is external fertilization sexual or asexual?

Well, there is fertilization in sexual reproduction, but there is not fertilization in asexual because the female reproductive system needs help with the male reproductive system through sex. Without sex, it is asexual. Females need the males sperm in order to fertilize the baby or plant.

What is flower fertililzation?

What classes of vertebrates use external fertilization?

Two classes:Fish and Reptileswhat is interior and exterior fertilization?Internal fertilization is when the sperm is directly deposited into the female, who produces eggs and fertilizes them in her body. External fertilization is when the sperm and eggs are released outside of the body and meet outside of the body, not like how chithra described. Birds do not have external fertilization, the fertilization still occurs in the body, they just do not produce live young.Examples of external fertilization are in plants like moss or algae, where the sperm and eggs meet outside of the parent's body and produce a zygote, which then grows into a mature plant. External fertilization in animals are usually in marine organisms, like sponges, because the sperm needs to swim in water to meet the egg.-Your Welcome

Why does a male gamete of a flowing plant have no cell wall?

The male gamete of a flowering plant, also known as a pollen grain, lacks a cell wall to facilitate its movement and fertilization. The absence of a cell wall allows the pollen grain to be carried by air or insects more easily to reach the female reproductive structures for fertilization.

What are the similarities of internal external fertilization?

Internal fertilization takes place inside the body of the female. It is necessary for animals which live on land (terrestrial animals) and is retained by aquatic animals descended form terrestrial ancestors eg whales and dolphins. External fertilization takes place outside the body of the female. It usually takes place in water, usually the environment in which the animal lives eg fish and amphibians. This is because eggs and sperm would dry out and die if they are not kept wet. Internal fertilization is more certain than external fertilization so fewer eggs need to be produced. After internal fertilization eggs can be protected and fed while developing inside the mother's body. After external fertilization the eggs are potentially exposed to predators and so must either be produced in very large numbers or protected by the parents or both.

What are two things that make fertilization successful?

For successful fertilization, the sperm needs to reach the egg in the fallopian tube during the fertile window of the menstrual cycle. Additionally, the sperm needs to penetrate the egg's protective layer and fuse with the egg to form a zygote.

What are the fallopian tubes?

It is a thin tube connecting the ovaries with the uterus, it is the site of fertilization i.e. the fusion of male and female gamete. It is the part of female reproductive system in which sperm and egg intract to each other (fertilization).

How do newts reproduce?

Newts reproduce through internal fertilization, where a male transfers sperm to a female through a specialized structure. The female lays eggs, which are externally fertilized by the male's sperm. The eggs hatch into aquatic larvae, which undergo metamorphosis to become terrestrial adult newts.
