Marijuana is stored in fat cells. The larger your build and the lower your metabolism the longer it will remain in your system. This is probably not the most complete answer you could get, but that should explain the existence of said toxins in your system.
It should only be in there for up to three weeks, especially if you drink enough water regularly.
