The Chinese language was stereotypically thought to be incomprehensible by Europeans, and so the game was named to reflect this. However, in America the more common name for the game is 'Telephone' as 'Chinese Whispers' can be seen as offensive.

∙ 12y agoChinese whispers is a game that about 6-25(or more) people and a person has a message. Now this message can be anything like i like ice cream or something like a whisper is a decibell.Then the person that is holding the message has to tell the person ext to them ad they will pass on the message until it gets to them again. If the message is right, the person who got made the message says " We have got the message right!" and if the group don't succeed, well whey can all do another message starting whoever wants to go.

∙ 13y agoBecause Chinese is seen the most difficult language to learn and catch for the western society, especially British, where the game was first invented. And Chinese was used when the game was first played. Hence the name.
It is a little offensive in other countries, though. And it is only used in UK now.
