Im actually having the same problem or had it. The best thing to do is go to an i phone repair store and have it fixed or just buy another one. There is something wrong with one of the components in it is messed up or one of the wires to the LCD screan is damaged. This is actually verry common case. You cant fix it at home because you have to take off the screan and once you do that it can be difficult to put it back on.

Well this happened to me once it just means something is wrong with it simply turn mode on, then off, then on then press menu and center button and hold down until u c the apple sign then connect it to your computer it should work then. Hope this helps u :)
What is happening is your touch is going to sleep. To "wake it up" you need to do a hard rebut. To do that you need to press the home button and the on/off button at the top. Then the apple icon should appear and there u go!
Ah technology.
YOU HAVE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE.
i am an iPod touch/iPhone expert.
i have come across this 2 times.
hold the on/off and home button together for about 10 seconds. It should reboot and yes! If that doesn't work, Turn your iPod off, hold the home button and connect to computer with the computer running iTunes. Then restore!
Have you ever considered jailbreaking, jailbreak with blackrain it is easy and only take about 8 mins. You get free apps, lighting up your iPod with a background, hide icons, download paid apps on the app store for free using the apple store troll bridge (applous). Jailbreak your iPod touch today! Drawbacks: This neither illegal not legal. By jailbreaking you lose your warranty, so jailbreak after your warranty. ENJOY!!!
I have found that when I leave it on the charger too long it turns white. If this is not the case, you may have gotten it wet. If it does not dry within the next hour or so, you may have altered the screen white.
Hold the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button simultaneously for 6 seconds. If it is not already off, turn it off, and then turn it back on. Your iPod Touch should be fine now.
