My nylon 66 has no serial number, how do I find out what year it was made?
<><><><><>
Rifles and shotguns made prior to 1968 were not required by law to have a serial number. However, on the left side of the barrel, right at the receiver, you may find a 2 or 3 letter code. The Remington Collector Association website has a chart to decode the letters for the month and year that a rifle was made.
1959 to 1989
I can say that the A prefix was added to the serial number in 1977.The last nylon 66 rifles were made in 1987.So your rifle dates from 1977-1987.
The serial number on a Remington Nylon 66 is typically located on the left side of the receiver, just above the trigger guard. It may also be found on the barrel, depending on the specific model and production year. If you're having trouble locating it, check the owner's manual for further guidance.
Check the date code on barrel ;) There's information on the Remington Society of America, check related links.
about 1978. give or take a year, but no sooner than 1977
No
it looks like in the blue book that the mod.# is nylon 66
There is a video on how to assemble and disassemble a nylon 66 on youtube.com
They month and year can be determined by the barrel code, all the details can be found on the Remington Society of America here: http://remingtonsociety.com/rsa/questions/barrelcodes (will be between 59 and 89)
Remington.
Can't be answered without the serial number.
Purple wasn't a Remington color.
