Why does a man often love more than one woman?

I love my wife and I am also in love with my first love from High School. All I can tell you is why I love more than one woman. There can be different kinds of love. Right now, in my life, I am living in a grey area between two loves. Cut short, my relationship with my high school love never ever died. It was filled with a spiritual connection rarely found between two people. In the mean time, I healed and found another woman who became my wife and with whom I have had two beautiful children. I balance my love for both and, while I am scared to loose my wife because of marital issues (besides what most people would with moralistic superficiallity), I also see my first love. I am hoping that in my process of growing I can soon decide whom I wish to spend my life with. But, right now, I have to take faith that this situation will work out. Each woman I love very differently.
