You aren't cleaning it right. Use a pinch of natural sea salt in a shotglass of warm water. Soak for 5 mins 2-3 times a day. Some people just have more "ear cheese" than others. If its bad, just stick to wearing metals. Plastics and organics are very porous and trap water and dead skin cells which causes the smell. If you do wear plastics, clean them often and thoroughly. You can also try different fragrant oils to make it smell better.
