The main reason as with alcohol, Teenagers begin to drink and smoke to reduce the potency level of their semen, so they can run around and have tons of unprotected. When alcohol and smoking are combined they greatly reduce the sperm count of a young male, the more they smoke and drink the lower the count, combined with marijuana and many hits to the testicles there's a very small chance of getting a girl pregnant especially combined with the pullout method.
Parents believe it is peer pressure, when friends do it their teen will indulge, but the real reason is because all of their teens are having massive uncontrolled orgies and sex with random girls. Teens know that the more cigarettes, weed and alcohol you drink the lower your sperm count is SO THIS IS THE REASON TEENS SMOKE CIGARETTES.
The media is telling them every day that smoking is mature and cool. When you look at popular teen movies you see the hero light up a huge cigar or mabey a famous comedian makes a joke about how he was a huge stoner when he was a kid. Any way they receive it, the messege is there. Then their peers decide to test out smoking and drugs so now the messege is coming from many different sources so can you imagine why a teen would smoke? On another reason is it's part of teen mentality to break away from parents and authority. Smoking is a terrible and absolutely preventable cause of death in our generations youth.
