Lorcin type pistols are striker fired which means they use no hammer for applying energy to the firing pin. Thus, you are applying force to the firing pin spring and the recoil spring when cocking the gun from a fired position.

The internal hammer at the back of the slide is pushed in and the slide pulls upward. There is actually a tool for this but you can use anything that fits, push in the hammer until it clears the retention bar at the hammers center then lift the slide. Be careful the springs are under pressure and will shoot out. There are two springs one at the front for the slide and one at the back for the hammer/firing pin.

There is no slide release button on lc9. After the last round the slide locks back, to get the slide forward you have to pull back on it and release. The lc9 is not like many semi autos where the slide can be closed with a button. You have to manually pull the slide back.
