Why do some women prefer to wear their hair very short instead of traditional long hair?

Maybe they are just tired of the long hair and want a change. Maybe they realize that having the same hair as you have had for years is not only boring, it's usually ugly. I mean, a woman likes to stand out and be different. She wants something new, and a hairstyle is usually cheaper than a new husband or car.
Very short hair usually comes when a woman realizes, for whatever reason, that soccer mom hair is boring and she finally has nerve enough to get a real haircut.
