People invented things to improve the quality of life. The world is changing, and so are our needs. What would the wrld be like now if we couldn't communicate over phones? We would have to write letters all the time! What if the computer wasn't invented, i wouldn't be answering this question right now, and you wouldn't receive the answer. So that's why people invent things.
Some people use an ellipsis, some people put a line over the repeating part, some people write the word "repeating" or "recurring."
One approach to a realistic novel involves change. This includes changing names of characters, streets, addresses, etc. It is possible to add characters, etc. A writer does not have to be exact to get a point across or to create a good story based on people they've known, or where they've lived or did to make a living. Geographically, you could do it fairly easily. Use the correct street names and where everything is. Things like that change over time, but it can be accurate historically, when it was written. It is when you get into "correct" personality issues that you might have a problem. Your view of the way things are is not always the way other people see things, and so if you are going to attack anything in the community or the work environment, then you will end up offending someone. That doesn't mean don't write however. It depends on the importance of your message. Usually, people who want to write "accurate" fiction are trying to send a message... to point out community or social problems that need to be addressed, or to comment on "the way things are." Fictionalizing the real world can help to point these things out, because you can "super-size" the reality to make it more obvious. In order to avoid insult, you could change people's names or combine several companies into one in attacking their practices... most flaws of that sort are widespread, so it probably wouldn't be difficult. If you are going to write non-fiction, make sure you consult a lawyer before using real names. You want to make sure you understand the risks before you publish.
