By dictionary standards, no they're not. Gay is used in regards to males who are attracted physically and emotionally to other males, while lesbian is used for females. However, a lot of people will have the tendency to call a lesbian "gay", instead of lesbian. I'm not sure why, but it seems to be the most common thing these days. ALSO THEY ARE THE SAME THING JUST LIKE HE AND AHE IF YOU CALLA GIRL HE DOESN'T MATTER (S)HE'S A HUMAN RIGHT
