There are many reasons for this but I will only explain three of them to you. The first reason is that they believe that you are very nosy and do not wish to share their problems with you as it is none of your business.

The second reason is that you are the problem so why would they tell you?

Finally, their problem may be so long and complicated that they do not wish to waste their time explaining it to you.

I have found that the most common reason is that the person thinks you should already know what the problem is.
