You simply tell your best friend, how you feel about them, and when confiding in them, let them know that you want to keep this between you and them only. Hopefully, if they are a true best friend, they would do that and keep what you guys talk about amogst themselves only.

Also, don't be overbearing with your feelings either as this too can be overwhelming for guys and scare them away. Just enjoy your relationship and let things work themselves out. He is there with you because he wants to be with you let things evolve on their own - be patient and things will adjust.
