As far as Christmas some do not celebrate it like Americans do and if they dont't they may choose it as a time to change up their meal as we change up for Thanksgiving and Christmas we don't normally eat the things at those time all year. A lot of Japanese eat only their traditional style food all year and do not eat much fast food and American style meals.
