Europe got slaves from Africa by the triangular trade. Europe traded with Africa, Europe gave Africa guns, rum, gunpowder, and tools. Africa traded back with slaves
bc they exchanges them for gold,guns and other goods.
To shoot and kill the slaves if they did not follow orders. Or to get the slaves to follow orders through intimidation.

It started with people wanting to keep guns away from Indians and slaves.
Triangular trade worked like this. Ships loaded with merchant goods, like guns, rum, clothing etc. sailed to Africa from Europe. There the merchant goods were traded for slaves. The ship loaded with slaves in middle passage sailed for the Americas and traded the slaves for raw materials like cotton, tobacco, pineapples and coffee. The ships then sailed for Europe and the process was begun again.
