- Some men can certainly tell their wives they want a divorce, but a high percentage cannot and would rather cheat than face the wrath of their wife. Inwardly the man doesn't want to hurt their wife, but doesn't realize that by cheating or at the very least showing no signs of love or affection towards his wife he is hurting her much more. Simply put some men don't like confrontation in any way, shape or form (including conflict within family.)
