Sexuality is fluid.
For some people it changes as they get older and as they grow as people. You don't want the same things from a relationship when you're twenty-three as you do when you're forty-five; and accordingly the type of person you're attracted to may change as well.
For women especially, relationships are about emotional needs almost as much as they are about physical ones -- or possibly more so. That could explain why women are (arguably) more open to exploring their sexualities than men.
Additionally, homosexuality is more socially acceptable now than it has been in the past. Some women may have identified inwardly as lesbians for years but are only now able to come to terms with and express those desires. so much more women now have that desire to be with other women, rather than be with a man instead. they seem to be very attracted to another woman's body, and this will turn them on. i am a straight man, and i know how it feels. many of these women that go with other women are just losers, because they cannot make it with men to begin with. as for the ones that were married to men at one time, you are very low life pigs for leaving your husbands to go with other women. you women are a disease, that keeps on spreading.
