LEGO Batman sets at retail were more than other licensed Lego sets because DC Licensing is notoriously expensive and difficult to obtain. Add to that the fact that they know people will pay up because Lego is a quality and very expensive toy, and Batman is one of the best, most well known American Comic Book Characters that appeals worldwide.

As for Secondary prices, Lego Batman sets have skyrocketed in price because Lego doesnt reissue their sets. they are available for a certain time and then go out of stock/no longer available. Then Lego Lost the licensing for Batman right after the game came out, thus making the future of LegoBatman non existant.

They will be making batman movie 3 THEN they will be up for stock.

Actually Lego is giving different prices according to your region in the UK, for example 10188 death star is only 275.00$ here it is 399.99 so they aren't as expensive as we think but be grateful we have the 2nd best prices.
