Why CRT and plasma are not used in laptops?

• A CRT display is typically at least 1 foot deep to allow space for the neck of the tube containing the electron gun and surrounded by heavy copper deflection coils, the face of the tube itself is thick leaded glass to shield you from the x-rays the tube emits.
• A typical plasma display is about 3 inches thick.

CRTs are way too big, heavy, and dangerous (CRTs carry a extremely large charge that is potentially lethal when exposed due to improper servicing or handling) for laptops.
