Sears never made any guns. They were private labeled for Sears by gun manufacturers Sears guns are usually almost identical to a manufacturer's model, but I believe this particular one was made by Hi Standard to Sears' specifications and there was no equivalent gun with the manufacturer's name.
Ranger was possibly made by Hunter Arms Company and sold by Sears from 1930-1950.
We MAY be able to answer that if you provide the model numbers. Ranger was a brand used by Sears (and others) for guns sold by them, but made by several other companies. High Standard, Savage, Mossberg and Winchester (among others) made shotguns for Sears.
In excellent condition, around $200. The only pump shotgun that Brwoning ever made was the BPS. Ranger was a brand name that was used by Sears and Roebuck. It was used on many utilitarian guns made by various makers. This gun was made by Stevens and sold to Sears to be marketed as the Ranger.
Proofhouse.com has a store brand chart. Ranger was a name that Sears branded on firearms made for them by other companies. Sears Ranger O/U shotguns were made by Marlin. When introduced in 1937 and prior to WWII Sears used the Ranger name and JC HIggins after the war. They were sold by Marlin as the Model 90. The 103 was used by Sears to designate guns made by Marlin with the number after a period or dash indicating the particular model.
Yes. Slugs can be used in guns in good condition.
Ranger was a trade name used by Sears Roebuck, probably from about 1920-1040's. The guns were made by a variety of manufacturers, but a SxS double is most likely a version of the Stevens 311. They should be good utility guns, but nothing flashy or expensive. A 12 gauge should be worth $200-$250. The 20 gauge might be $100 higher. This is an incorrect answer. The Ranger line was made for Sears and Roebuck, by Hunter Arms, famous for L.C.Smith shotguns. The Ranger was the same as the Fulton and Fulton Special. These were and are exrtreamly good boxlock shotguns, as many of the parts were the same design as he L.C.Smith. These go for up to 1500 dollars in 20 guage, so the 410 will ble worth more. The 410 is the rarest of this model, and will command a premium price. I
Ranger was a Sears Roebuck trademark. The guns were manufactured by several makers. If you have a model number, it may be in a cross-reference list. See http://www.e-gunparts.com/crossref.asp
Sears SOLD guns until about 1989. Most of the guns sold by Sears said J C Higgins or Ted Williams- the Sears brands- but they were made by a gun making company for Sears. Savage, Mossberg, Marlin, High Standard, etc all made guns for Sears. However, between 1905 and 1918, Sears owned the Meriden Company, which made guns for Sears, as well as others. The guns were not marked Sears, but Meriden or AJ Aubrey.
The Sears Ranger 12 gauge model 102.25 was made by Stevens Arms Company and designed by Browning. 100% grade would put the value at approx. $200.00 if it was a Stevens. Less to some buyers if they are not attracted to the Sears marketing of the same gun. I personally think you would be safe at $150.00 for a nice used gun that has most of the bluing and the wood is in good condition. These guns are very trustworthy and are very dependable. A real shooters shotgun.
I bought a Winchester ranger 140 for $220 in awsome shape at a pawn shop that deals mainly with guns near St. Louis
Gun Digest is usually your best bet for a general value on almost any fire arm. The Ranger that you are refering to is a Model 520 made for Sears and Roebuck. It was a John Browning design made by Stevens. Made between 1927 and 1939. These guns are valued between $75 and $125.
