When did Nat turner leads a slave rebellion?
Nat Turner led his rebellion in 1831 in Virginia. In the
rebellion, Turner led a group of slaves, killing Turner's owner,
Travis, and his family, and approximately fifty other white
citizens. The militia was called to confront the uprising.
Approximately one hundred slaves were killed in the following weeks
by frightened white mobs and the militia. Nat Turner escaped, but
was later captured and executed.
