Carolyn Adams, (born May 6, 1946), later known as Mountain Girl and Carolyn Garcia, was a Merry Prankster and the wife of Jerry Garcia. After growing up in Poughkeepsie, New York, Adams met Neal Cassady in 1965; Cassady immediately gave her the name "Mountain Girl". Cassady took her to La Honda, Ken Kesey's base of operations, where she quickly joined the inner circle of Pranksters and was romantically involved with Kesey, having a daughter by him named Sunshine. The Grateful Dead song "Here Comes Sunshine" may or may not be an allusion to Adams' and Kesey's daughter, but the Dead were fond of lyrics having double, often personal meanings.

After marrying Jerry Garcia in 1981, Mountain Girl moved with him to The Spread, a 400-acre property in Soquel, California belonging to Ken Babbs with Kesey, his wife and their children. Garcia and Adams had two daughters. Garcia and Mountain Girl ultimately divorced in 1993, however, they remained personal friends right up until Garcia's death.

After Jerry Garcia's death, she was involved in a court battle over his estate with Garcia's widow, ultimately agreeing to a $1.25 million settlement.

Mountain Girl has also published on marijuana cultivation, with a book called Primo Plant being published in 1998. She currently sits on the board of the Rex Foundation.
