They did and they had a movement of people who hid slaves ( this was the underground railroad) and protected slaves. They wrote articles for papers and gave speeches. The book Uncle Tom's Cabin was about slavery and was a best seller. The movement was very big.

Depends on which slave. There was Harriet Tubman, and a lot of other different slaves that escaped on the Underground Railroad. Which was not actually a railroad, it was a series of safe houses that fed, clothed, and hid slaves. No matter what the cost.

She didn't only free over 700 slaves, she worked as a slave herself in childhood to adulthood. She led slaves on the Underground Railroad, it is a way of getting up north where slavery is illegal. She stopped and hid people in houses and went across rivers on boats and also was being hunted by her master. (the person who owned her as a slave)
Nothing for the north, but in the south, she started the underground railroad which is where slaves went to houses and hid for a few days. She herself was a slave and tried to escape many times. Finally she did. Then she went back to free many more slaves. I hope this has helped you, and if anyone has anything to correct me on or add on to, please do.
she hid them in wagons and sometimes sacks.
