You would have to go to court and the judge would decide who is a better parent, and do a background check to see if either one of you have any criminal records. Also if you're a good mother, it would probably be the mother because the judge always attempts to keep a child with his/her mother since they have their first connection with the mother at birth.
The above answer is not completely true. Yes, you do have to go to court, but the mother does not always get the children. And, cheating does not come into a custody case. only divorce ends in a custody case. The case is decided by what ever is best for the children. The best advice is to consult an attorney. You will need one. This part of the court system is a mess.
