Pixar... He's from the Toy Story films.
In particular he was based on John Lasseter's (chief creative officer at Pixar) Casper doll, as well as the Howdy Doody puppets from the 1950s (think Woody's Roundup). He full name is 'Woody Pride' named after actor Woody Strode.
I recommend watching the special features on the Toy Story DVDs.
