A standard 5.5mm(outer) 2.1mm(inner) power plug fits fine.

First of all, the battery has to still be in the DS to charge it. Don't ever take it out. To charge the battery, plug the small end of your charger into the matching port on the DS, and plug the large end into a power source (usually a wall outlet, but sometimes a car power outlet or USB port). Make sure the power source is turned on.
You take off the cap. Then pull out the spark plug. Put a new spark plug in. Then put the cap back on. Voila your done. Easy as pie!
Plug in cable for power, press power button, remove battery, press power button again, remove power cable, press power button a few times 3+, put power cable back in, put battery back in, try turning on. If that does not work then you might have to take it in for repairs.
